Ghisallo
After years of riding long solo and club rides, I joined the RANDONNEURS (RUSA.ORG). This group is dedicated to unsupported long distance rides. The rides, called brevets, are structured at 200,300 400 and 600 kilometers (or approx 120 to 360 miles) . A time limit is set to complete each course, but the riders do not compete with each other. For those looking for a little more challenge, 1200km events are held in different regions of the country annually and the largest ride is held in Paris every 4 years.
My Litespeed Ghisallo, with compact front rings and a mountain gearset has proven a comfortable, fast and reliable long range ride. The lightweight Ghisallo frame is perfect for the frequent hill climbs and fast descents. This bicycle feels like a natural extension. I hope to take a Litespeed on a cross country tour someday.
